| CanDoSpirit Network is an idea whose time has come! Perhaps it would be better to say that because of computers, the resources and facilities are now in place to enable quality learning experiences beyond anything we have previously known. CanDoSpirit Network is committed to bring good ideas about teaching and learning into common practice. Think about it: Educators around the world are asking themselves how computer-technologies can be harnessed to facilitate learning.
Now that we have overwhelming evidence that learning at its best is a collaborative and highly interactive human adventure we expect a great deal more of computers than we did earlier. Rather than to limit the quest to building better exercise books or devices to store and sort bits of information, we are learning that computers are capable of far more than simply helping us do over and over again the things we already know how to do. Computers can pick up where our skills and creativity leave off enhancing, refining, extending, and fulfilling our best techniques. For most of us this means helping directly in the refinement of the human communication processes.
Where do these processes most need improvement? The person-to-person, face-to-face exchanges that serve as the basic engine of social development are the place to start. In these so-called soft issues we find the most pressing challenges for the future. |
| CanDoSpirit Network is committed to effective teaching-learning processes, because we have come to respect this concern as the organizing center of human development. Computers provide a means, not a purpose. Computers enable and encourage the development of resources. But make no mistake about it, our motives, purposes, and values come from commitment to the God who created and inspires human creativity. |
|
CanDoSpirit Network is committed to the quest for truth. Ours is no wandering and meaningless quest for a better tomorrow. We accept the worth of persons and the value of collegial relationships. As we put our faith in the God who creates we join the long line of those who accept a commitment to godliness and to the fellowship of Jesus Christ. |
|
The pattern of intentional growth for those affiliating in CanDoSpirit Network, is represented in these steps of fulfillment:
• |
We accept God's leading, goals, and virtues as the standards and purposes of our lives. |
• |
We accept as our calling and professional commitment the quest for effective teaching and learning. |
• |
We recognize the importance of a relational, inter-personal center to every teaching process. |
• |
We utilize technological devices and mechanical functions as enhancements and means for extending the scope of teaching processes. |
• |
We bring others along in our professional development. We hold nothing to be our exclusive signs or symbols of worth. As learners we are sharers, and thus we define our professionality in terms of collaboration and collegiality. |
